The Alliance for Cybersecurity Education (ACE) is a consortium of education and community partners working to raise the effective value of the 6-12 educational system and its integration into post-secondary education.

HISTORY

In December 2013, it was announced that the U.S. Army Cyber Command would move to Fort Gordon in 2018 and that Fort Gordon would be designated the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence (COE). Thus, the number of Fort Gordon employees is expected to increase from 24,000 to over 28,000 the next five years.

Using military models, 4,700 new military and government civilian employees equates to community growth of about 14,000 when spouses and children are included. About one third of the new employees will be government civilians and contractors. As there is no additional on post family housing planned, the majority of these new employees will live in the community…

why we exist

Develop a defined curriculum related to cyber security for grades 6-12, which will create a pipeline through post-secondary education and into final employment. This will, in turn, generate an employable workforce for industry.

MEMBERS

The consortium is made up of Aiken Technical College, the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Technical College, CSRA Alliance, the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, the Columbia County School System, Fort Gordon, Georgia Regents University, and the Richmond County School System.

Introduction to Digital Technology is the foundational course for Web & Digital Communications, Programming, Advanced Programming, Information Support & Services, and Network Systems pathways. This course is designed for high school students to understand, communicate, and adapt to a digital world as it impacts their personal life, society, and the business world.

  INTRO TO CYBERSECURITY

Introduction to Cybersecurity is designed to provide students the basic concepts and terminology of cybersecurity. The course examines how the concept of security integrates into the importance of user involvement, security training, ethics, trust, application of cybersecurity practices and devices, and best practices management. The fundamental skills cover internal and external threats to network security and design, how to enforce network level security policies, how to protect an organization’s information, and a broad range of other topics.

  ADVANCED CYBERSECURITY

Advanced Cybersecurity is designed to provide students the advanced concepts and terminology of cybersecurity. The course explores the field of cybersecurity with updated content including new innovations in technology and methodologies. It builds on existing concepts introduced in Introduction to Cybersecurity and expands into malware threats, cryptography, organizational security, and wireless technologies.
